Artist Comment: This is a half-scale study drawing. I decided not to continue with a full-scale oil painting. The lights and darks are interesting, however. Images of the celestial realms would be quite boring without any darks in the composition whatsoever. Metaphorical. I like how the tall, weighty figure of the gatekeeper arrests the leftward momentum of the angel girl lines also. The mischieveous black cat is also cute.
