Artist Comment: This was my second attempt at this larger format 18 x 24 composition. My first attempt was "Garden Party", which was successful, but unfortunately I've lost the original drawing. Normally I don't like this rectangular, wide shape because it is harder or impossible to get a lot of movement between the shapes. The movement is almost forced into horizontal. Here I left a lot of space in the sky to work on the trees and some sky architecture that I didn't detail in the drawing. I also invisioned horizontal cast shadows pulling the figures together and touching the left edge. This painting is still a WIP so it's hard to say how it will work out.
