Surpise Ally At The Shadow Transition
Description: Two young angels are heading back to heaven, but one is impeded by a satyr, who is grabbing her purse. A dark, demonic dominatrix figure is swooping in to defend the angels.

Artist Comment: In the second half of 2025 I began to allow "shadow" images into my paintings, whereas previously they were banned. It turns out that paintings with no dark in them are less interesting on multiple levels. The "shadow" is a Jungian term, referring generally to the dark or shadow side of all of us in a very dualistic realm of Earth. Here we also see Virgin, Mother (symbolized by the basket she holds), and Crone symbolism. The virgin is a passive victim here, the mother a nurturer, and the crone has learned to master and dominate men. Here the crone is depicted as a shadow figure that is actually helpful, a teacher, an "ally".
