Artist Comment: This was my first painting when I came back to oil painting in spring of 2020, when the pandemic hit. I suddenly had a lot more free time. I was quite pleased with the result, and was encourage to keep going. A few years later, I tried a few times to paint a Ukraine-inspired painting, and failed. Then I realized that I already had a Ukraine painting. This one. So yes, it's sort of retro-dedicated, and I was not eager to put little flags on these figures, but the colors and meaning are good.
