At The Piazza Del Popolo
Description: Some eclectic tourists wearing lolita fashions are photographing themselves with their outfits in the Piazza Del Popolo in Rome. They stand at the base of the massive Egyptian obelisk of Sety I (later erected by Rameses II) from Heliopolis, which stands in the centre of the Piazza.

Artist Comment: For this painting, I was really struggling with what fashion style or period fashion to use with my angel figures. So here are two types of Lolita, and a pinkish red outfit that looks more 1950s. What a mess. Thankfully I did not continue with either of those fashion avenues. So the cynicism here is the shallow materialism of the girls, in a plaza steeped in history. For example, this spot saw perhaps over 500 public executions in the 1800s. Thrifted frame.
