Melancholy Clouds At The Croquet Court
Description: A couple groups of croquet players take to the lawn on a cloudy day.

Artist Comment: This painting was an attempt to do a serious composition that looks professional and gallery quality, using fashionable female figures against a landscape backdrop. This is a direct influence of my appreciation for Thomas Wilmer Dewing. The painting is also evocative of John Lavery, who painted croquet and lawn tennis. At the time of this writing, I consider this painting to be one of my best works of 2025, along with the rise of the cloud paintings, where I am painting sort of voluminous cloud terrain. In 2026 I plan to try to limit myself to just these two types of paintings, and arrive at a more cohesive style as an artist.
