Artist Comment: This painting has been quite a struggle, due to some significant compositional flaws. I.e. the figures are equally spread apart instead of grouped well. The monolothic male column is in the center of the painting. I was attempting to make a triangular composition, which is perfectly respectable in classical art. I'm not sure how well this is going. I have tried to simplify colors and tones as much as possible, and pull things together with lines and shadow linkages.
